Back to my regularly scheduled posting...

My Christmas haul:
K-cups galore for my Keurig coffee maker. It's sad they aren't recyclable, but they are free so I must make use of them while I look for a reusable method of making myself a cup of coffee.
Bath type stuff: salts, soap, scented oil
Gift cards:Container Store (spent already), GAP, et. al.
A beautiful beautiful bar table built for me by my dad
Homemade cocoa mix with homemade marshmallows
Yes, Christmas is commercial and hectic, and I always feel it should be more about the religious celebration than the secular. But still, PRESENTS!

Rang in the new year with excellent food and excellent company, although it took nearly a week to get my pork and black-eyed peas eaten. I see in my future...food, music, friends, travel, and racing. It's gonna be good.

Although each year is unique in it's own way, they all have the same pattern: January-December, Winter-Fall, the same holidays and school breaks, people dying, people being born. In a way, they are all covers of previous years. A new name and a new take on THE YEAR. So in the spirit of 2012's cover of every year (or every leap year) before it, here's a playlist of great covers.

1)Sweet Dreams-Marilyn Manson
2)White Rabbit-Gillian Welch and David Rawlings
3)Wicked Game-Giant Drag
4)Bitches Ain't Shit-Ben Folds
5)Debaser-OK Go
6)Immigrant Song-Trent Reznor and Karen O
7)2+2=5-Punch Brothers
8)Angel of Death-Andy Rehfeldt
9)Gin and Juice-The Gourds
10)The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down-Black Crowes
11)The Scientist-Willie Nelson
12)You Ain't Goin Nowhere-The Byrds predates Bob Dylan's first recording but whatever. I'm still calling it a cover.
13)Four Strong Winds-Johnny Cash
14)My Man-Regina Spektor
